Benefits of Hiring a Personal Trainer

Posted on May 10th, 2009 by mindovermatter in Overall Fitness

The benefits of hiring a personal trainer are way too numerous to list. The fact that I am a fitness consultant affords me the opportunity to convince people of this daily. Why is it worth their time, effort, energy, and especially money to do so? I usually start off by asking them would they represent themselves in a court of law, or would they hire an attorney? Would they attempt to stop a crime in progress, or would they look for a police officer? If your car breaks down, are you going to break out the toolbox, or hire a mechanic to take a look?

Yes, you can go to the gym on your own and you can work out on your own, but it will never be the same as having a professional, (and I stress professional), walk you through it. Motivation, guidance, knowledge, wisdom – this is what a trainer provides. Worse case scenario, you go and you injure yourself, which more times than not seems to happen.

We are all individuals, and our bodies need to be treated as such. What works for your friend might not work for you. What works in the fitness magazine of your choice may work for that fitness model, but not for you. If it were that simple, everybody would look like that fitness model, rather than the other 99 percent of the population.

Whether it’s a lifelong relationship with a trainer, monthly maintenance, or just getting a program designed, you are far better off with the assistance of a professional than attempting to strike out on your own. You only get one body, so there are no second chances.
